CWCN General Meeting
Guest speaker Mr Howard Briggs: Opportunities for the community to contribute to their future through planning

Howard Briggs is a retired natural resource manager who has been involved in planning the future of both rural and urban lands in Queensland for decades. He has worked for the Queensland Government in a number of roles in which he has contributed to the drafting of the Integrated Planning Act 1997 and to the first SEQ Regional Plan in 2005 and has made many submissions to planning schemes and development applications. Howard is passionate about educating people on how they can be involved in the planning process to ensure good planning outcomes that can be justified and understood by the general community.
Howard will talk about why you should be interested and involved in planning, the effectiveness of planning and some of the issues that have contributed to the current situation in Queensland, what opportunities are available for the community to be informed on what is happening around them, and the role you can play to influence the future of your local area. He will illustrate these points with case studies of local developments.
As always, this is an opportunity to socialise and exchange information and ideas. Refreshments and finger food are waiting for you. Everyone is welcome. Non-members of CWCN are asked to bring a gold coin donation to help covering catering costs. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, 30th July 2019.
