Brisbane's Big Butterfly Count Bonanza for the entire family!

This is going to be so much fun!

Moore Park is perfect for butterfly explorations. During our previous surveys we have encountered well over 40 species. We are keen to discover more. You can help us. We have lots of nets (small and large) for everyone to try their hands, and you will have a good chance to look at butterflies close up before they are being released into the wild again.

We'll also check out all life cycle stages from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to adult butterfly and follow the magic of the butterfly metamorphosis.

We'll learn about the picky eating habits caterpillars have and what is needed to keep them healthy and alive.

There is so much more hands-on fun. You can try out what it feels like to be a baby or an adult butterfly, figure out how butterflies drink nectar, what caterpillars do when they outgrow their skin, Have you ever wondered how butterflies see the world, well....., you will find out.

There will also be lots of information on display, and you can do some butterfly crafts.

This is a morning full of fun for all ages.

Wear protective clothing, closed shoes. Don't forget sunscreen and insect repellent, and definitely BYO water. We will have light refreshments and some nibbles for morning tea though.....

This is a FREE event for e veryone, but registration is a MUST.
